Tower of London

hi all!

Just got home from seeing the Tower of London and I am completely frostbiten. But what a cool experience! Maybe I should start saying brilliant now instead. I'm going to adopt British lingo by time I leave here. Had class this morning which was extremely boring, mostly because what seems to be the usual for this trip I was almost falling asleep. Started writing ideas for a book I want to write so that was somewhat helpful...although not sure if I'll actually get around to writing more than a few pages like I always do. Anyways. Went to the Tower of London where we learned all about the castle and how they used to torture people there for treason or being traitors. They used devices like hanging a person by their hands for 6 hours, a "crunching" macine that crunched up your organs, a stretching machine, pulling a person on the ground behind a horse, cutting a person straight down the middle and pulling out his organs in front of him, and then burning him alive. They then quartered the person, displaying the head along the London Bridge (I think that's what she said) another quarter in Scotland to scare them, another quarter in Wales to scare them, and one more quarter somewhere else that the tour guide forgot. Gross. Imagine driving down the 5 freeway and seeing heads everywhere. Must have really stopped traffic...talk about rubber necking! We learned how grusome it used to be with all of the competition for the throne and for a long period of time how family would kill family in order to get to the crown. We saw the torture devices, walked in the Kings corridors, and saw the royal jewels. We also watched a video of Queen Elizabeth at her coronation. What a lucky bitch being born into the right family. The field trip was really fun but felt like my feet were rocks by the end of it they were so numb. Got back to the flat and my feet started itching like crazy. Took off my socks to find my feet had swollen to almost two times their size and were bright red. After a few minutes of extreme itching my flatmate Melissa suggested I turn on the shower and soak my feet. Which I did...for 5 minutes. Took me another 15 before I could start feeling them again. UGH. I HATE THE COLD!! Gonna go read and take a nap. Ciao!

Frostbitenly,

Jori
