Day 3 (first blog)

So I've decided to make a blog about my trip to London so I could remember everything that I did and saw as well as letting my friends and family follow me on my jor-ney (journey for those of you who couldn't figure out my witty yet not really that witty play on words). I'm still extremely jet lagged...didn't think I was going to be since the first night felt pretty normal, but now three days in and I find myself exhuasted the entire day. It's beyond freezing here. Going from 80 degrees t0 27 degrees with wind and snow is not my idea of fun. London however is such an amazing city. My flat is located in central London so we are in the heart of the city.
We walk everywhere which is great exercise and a nice way to get to know the place, but its so cold my hands and face go numb within minutes! The building where we attend class is only about a 7 minute walk from our flat and the people who work there all seem friendly and helpful. The first full day here we went on a walking tour and saw Soho and the places around it (can't remember all of the names right now, my brain refuses to function on this low quality of sleep/food/comfort).

The architecture is absolutely beautiful and the history behind all of the buildings is really interesting. If it wasn't so cold here I would definitely live here (and if I wasn't always about to be hit by a bus or a bicycle going the other direction than I'm used to...pedestrians DO NOT have the right away here).
Today we went on a coach tour where we saw more of the city's famous sites like the London Bridge, Big Ben (which isn't really the clock Big Ben refers to the bell inside of it from what I understand from our tour guide Angie), Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guards, a bunch of castles and palaces, Harrods and the ritzy area of London, and some other famous sites I can't remember the names of (the tour was a 9 in the morning...so to us it felt around 1-3 am).
Wish I could write more right now but my body is craving sleep on my springy mattress. Going to Ikea tomorrow so hopefully we pick up some goodies like a memory foam and comforter so I'm not sleeping in worse conditions than an inmate.
Warmly (pun intended),

Jori
